Dark Knight Opening Scene Analysis

Dark Knight Opening Scene Analysis

A genre indicator which tells the audience that it's an action film is that there gun fights and bank heists. These are examples of themes that can be found in an action film. These can create excitement and tension for the audience. Another genre indicator that we can see s that there are heroes and villains, which are in every action film.

The Question that the audience would be asking from watching the opening scene is what tensions will occur between the Joker and Batman. They will also be questioning the origins of the Joker and his clan.

However, we have already found out that the Joker is the main villain of the film and that he has a small gang to help him. We also find out that the film is set mainly in a busy, fictional city, as we see many buildings and lots of traffic.

The music that is played in the opening scene builds tension as the beat gets faster and louder. It is also played on the drums, which contemplates the action theme.

One Camera shot that stands out to the audience is the aerial shot of the Joker and his crew on the rooftop raid. This shot is effective as it builds tension for when the characters are running. Another Camera shot that is used effectively is the multiple shot of the Joker's henchmen. This shows that they work together and that they are very similar in status.
